AL chief arrives in Damascus for two-day visit

Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Moussa arrived in Damascus Sunday for a two-day visit here in which he would hold talks with senior Syrian officials on the latest developments in the region.

Moussa's visit was expected to focus on settling Lebanon's escalating situation, ensuring stability and ending political assassinations there, as stipulated by the recent emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers.

Situation in the Palestinian territories and Iraq would also be covered in his talks with Syrian President Bashar Assad and his deputy Farouk al-Shara.
