Royal Jordanian to start operating cargo flights to Damascus |
English |
Royal Jordanian will begin to operate a weekly direct freight service to
Damascus from Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) every Tuesday starting
July 24.
Adding this route is bound to meet the customers' needs to secure their cargo
shipments from and to Damascus, to expedite transporting goods and boost
commercial activities. RJ is keen on expanding its cargo network services in the
region, in addition to its endeavor to increase revenues resulting from cargo
operations.
The new Amman-Damascus route will accelerate carrying imports and exports
between Jordan and Syria and ensure safe transportation of freight to its
destination. It will also provide better connection between the Middle East and
the European continent, particularly in shipping medicine, food, fruits and
vegetables, garments and spare parts, etc.
RJ will initially dedicate a Boeing 737-200 freighter with a capacity of 14.5
tons to operate on this route on a weekly basis. The airline is also studying
the possibility of opening new freighter routes to other points in the Levant.
RJ's freight network covers weekly scheduled flights to Algiers, Brussels,
London, New York, Riyadh, Khartoum, Athens, Larnaca, Istanbul, in addition to
Damascus. At the same time, big loads of cargo are carried on board RJ passenger
aircraft to all the airline's 54 international cities.
